Challenge
Operator had set inflatable packer for negative test on surface casing. During operation, packer lost pressure and slid down hole to undetermined depth.
Solution
- Retrieve inflatable packer from well and avoid costly trip to 24,788’ TD in order to push packer into rathole at bottom of well.
- Run overshot / grapple into well and latch fish top of packer at 6,780’ MD and POOH (Pull out of hole) with Packer BHA.
Fishing job was completed in single trip, saving operator an estimated 2 days rig time x 194,500.00 USD per day = $389.000.00, saved tripping to bottom.
